Synopsis
When you walk into Kofi Annan’s office at the United Nations, you are met by a man who seems at once calm yet stern. The Secretary General’s quiet composure belies the internal shake-up that he is staging in the massive organization that he now leads. Kofi’s "quiet revolution" within the U.N. could change the face of the world’s only global governing body. For the first time in many years, there is a man in power who could resuscitate the United Nations. This one-hour documentary follows Kofi Annan for seven months, from Baghdad to Nigeria to New York, during his first year as Secretary General. Kofi Annan is the first Secretary General (SG) to be drawn out of the inner machinery of the organization itself. Kofi confidently describes the systematic war he is waging on the paralysis and inefficiency of the United Nations. He feels the pressure as the world waits impatiently. How does one man save the organization whose charter it is to save the world? Eye of the Storm illuminates the mystery of this great governing institution and, more importantly, reveals the personality of the "man behind the curtain".
