Synopsis
There's no denying it any longer: The earth's climate is changing faster than anyone expected. While the planet's flora and fauna took millions of years to adjust to life on earth, conditions are now changing radically within a matter of years. Whole species are on the move. In four new installments, award-winning “Foreign Correspondents Report” illuminates causes and consequences of climate change across continents. AFRICA: A forecast 5-degree Celsius temperature hike is already hitting the flora and fauna of Africa with full force. ALASKA: From minus 30 degrees Celsius to minus five – the ice in Alaska is dwindling in record time, and so is the polar bear population. ASIA: Along the Mekong River, it is the industrialized removal of the jungle that threatens not only the existence of the local natives. The “Foreign Correspondents” accompanied the local villagers fighting the exotic lumber mafia with no outside support at all for three weeks. SOUTH AMERICA: Along the coast of Chile, Blue Whales compete directly with salmon farms. While the country's second-largest industry keeps growing, the habitat for the endangered maritime mammal is shrinking dramatically. “Africa's Endangered Paradises” “The Tropical Lumber Mafia” “Alaska Thaws – Polar Bears Disappear” “Whale or Salmon – Chile between Profits and Preservation”
