Synopsis
The Kimmel Gang is viewed to be the most dangerous juvenile gang during the Adenauer period. Between 1956 and 1961, they commit almost 200 burglaries. The loot: more than 100.000 Marks – a real fortune at that time. The gang was named after its leader, young weaver apprentice Bernhard Kimmel. Newspapers called him the "Al Capone of the Palatinate". Kimmel grows up in Lambrecht in the Bavarian Palatinate. After initially playing cops and robbers with Wehrmacht weapons he had found, the games very quickly turn into something more serious. In 1957, the gang raids its first bank, and soon after that, no safe is any longer safe from them ... When a drunken member of the gang kills a human being during a "last coup", the whole gang is hunted down and arrested by the police. After ten years, Kimmel is released from prison ahead of time, but he never manages to escape the criminal milieu. After another cop killing, he is sentenced to lifelong imprisonment. In December 2003, he is released after serving 22 years – totaling 32 years in prison.
