Synopsis
The documentary Kill Gil (Vol. 1) by director and producer Gil Rossellini (Indian son of the famous director Roberto) deals with the ordeal he faced at the end of the 2004, when he was diagnosed with a terrible disease confining him to a wheelchair, possibly for the rest of his life. On November 19th, 2004, just back from the Venetian success of the colossal Malayan Princess of Mount Ledang which he co-produced, Rossellini was in the Swedish capital to present the same film at the Stockholm International Film Festival, when he suddenly collapsed. The filmmaker spent three weeks at the Swedish hospital Karolinska in a deep coma, and underwent about twenty surgical procedures. Miraculously he awakened from the coma and was transferred to a specialized clinic in Switzerland. On July 23rd of the same year, Rossellini was able to return to Rome with the aid of a wheelchair.
