Synopsis
David McTaggart was an adventurer with a mission. He committed his life completely to the protection of the environment. The Canadian, who was born in 1932, formed the ecologist group Greenpeace, and turned it into a lobbyist machinery feared by the industry and governments. By the end of his forties, the building contractor becomes a dropout, aimlessly piloting his sailing boat. It is in 1973, when he by chance supports a group of activists in their protest against the French nuclear tests in the Pacific that the daredevil finds his purpose in life. McTaggart transforms the bunch of hippies called Greenpeace into a powerful public relations group that mobilizes the public against the nuclear tests with spectacular activities. In 1985, he wins a stunning victory by proving that the French secret service is responsible for sinking the Greenpeace vessel "Rainbow Warrior" in Auckland Harbor. But success takes its toll. McTaggart’s life is full of broken marriages, numerous affairs, and feelings of guilt towards his children, to whom he hardly paid any attention.
