Synopsis
Join Richard Hammond´s quest to find the Engineering Connections behind the world´s most advanced structures. Hammond explores the Taipei 101 Tower, one of the tallest buildings on Earth; the Airbus, the largest Airliner ever to exist; the huge Troll A Platform and the strongest telescope ever made, the WM Keck Observatory. These are jewels of technology, but Hammond discovers hidden deep in their DNA an amazing range of unexpected inventions spanning across history and from every corner of the globe. Episodes Airbus (NGCI Airbus A380): Richard Hammond sets out on a journey that reveals the largest passenger airliner in history owes its origins to a prototype rocket, a Mongolian bow and an eagle´s wing. Oil Platform (NGCI Super Rig/Troll A Platform): Richard Hammond reveals how the largest object ever moved by man across the Earth owes its origins to a 19th Century farm buiding, a plant pot and a crystal glass. Sky Scraper (NGCI Taipei 101): Richard Hammond travels to Taiwan and uncovers what Taipei 101, the world´s tallest building, has in common with a bird cage, sports cars, bamboo, boat masts and seat belts. Keck Observatory (NGCI Keck Observatory): Richard Hammond discovers the Keck Observatory owes its origins to an Ancient Greek Ritual, a musical instrument, a cold war spy plane and a refridgerator.
