Synopsis
David Farrell is one of the most important Irish photographers working today. In 2001 his hugely successful exhibition, Innocent Landscapes, dealing with the searches for the so called "disappeared" from the conflict of the North of Ireland, was first seen in Arles after winning the European Publishers Award for Photography. He remains the only Irish photographer to have achieved this honour and the show continues to travel around the world to universal acclaim. Farrell is not interested in making a record of events as they are, or in drawing clear conclusions; he believes strongly in photography´s ability to bear witness and his is a quest for what he terms "elusive moments".
