Jakob lives in a big city, and shops at his local supermarket. He wonders where all our food actually comes from. To find out, he decides to visit his friend Eva on her farm. Here Jakob finds out about the different animals that live on the farm and what plants are grown there. It was 10,000 years ago that the first farmers learned how to keep animals and plant crops. A lot has changed since then. Today, a farmer's work has been made far easier by machines – from GPS-controlled tractors to huge combine harvesters. WE then go to a typical farm in the USA, where it is known as a ranch. Cattle breeders in the USA, known as cowboys, often do their work in the saddle. We see them doing the work that takes them on long rides each day through magnificent landscape.
