Synopsis
One of mankind’s most dangerous enemies is lurking in the bush of Uganda and the jungles of the Congo: Ebola. Every two or three years, the Killer-Virus is responsible for the most horrifying epidemics, only to disappear again into the bush without any trace. Until this very day it remains a mystery to virologists, in which animal Ebola may be hiding before it leaps onto a human being once more. Doctor and epidemiologist Matthias Borchert is tracking down the Killer-Virus by searching for the origins and survivors of the latest outbreaks, with the goal of locating Ebola’s hideout and of catching the animal that serves as a host for the virus. This film shows the scientist’s encounters with magicians, gold-seekers and pygmies, and it documents the moment when Dr. Borchert penetrates deep into the labyrinth of an abandoned goldmine, where the world’s most contagious virus may be lying dormant.
