John Appel chose a very unpredictable subject for the commandment You shall not kill: who is responsible when someone has been lying dead at home unnoticed for a long time? The neighbours, the relatives, the society or nobody? After coming across a newspaper article, Appel starts looking for the identity of the forsaken deceased. At first, the neighbours, peeking around the corner of the balcony of the dead man´s house, even contradict each other as to what he looked like, but gradually Appel unravels a fascinating life story. He goes further and further back into the past and with a sense of humour and drama, he draws a portrait of a man who was both introverted and socially involved and who was not missed, but who did leave his marks.
